WHAT PARENTS & STUDENTS SAY ABOUT SPANISH 2
"I wanted to let you know that what you are teaching in class is really making a difference in my life, and I know more Spanish than I think I do. The other day, I was practicing what I would say to share the gospel with someone in Spanish. I realized that though I didn't have all the exact words, I could use Bible verses and other words to get around the words I didn't know and I could still share the love of Jesus. I know that that gift will stay with me for the rest of my life no matter how much Spanish I remember or use during my lifetime."
— Libby (Spanish 2 student)
"My son literally speaks Spanish all day, reciting verses almost to the point that he aggravates himself because they are stuck in his head. Makes me laugh! Such a blessing to our family!"
— Tanya (online Mom)
"I was on YouTube looking up crocheting patterns when I stumbled upon a Spanish crocheting video. I watched it and soon found out I could understand what the lady was saying. She was talking really fast but I was so excited that I could understand her."
— Lily (Spanish 2 student, 11 years old)
"Thank you for being such an awesome teacher. During my first year of Spanish I absolutely did not want to learn another language because I felt I was being born all over again, but you made learning another language a fun and enjoyable experience. Now everyone I talk to, when they say they too are taking a Spanish class at another school, I test to see if they even know as much as I do and when I say from what I think is a simple sentence turns out to be an impossible sentence for them and too long and too much Spanish words for them to comprehend. Thank you for pushing us and encouraging us to learn Spanish and I am sure this 2nd year of Spanish is going to be very enjoyable!"

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Is Spanish 2 really taught 100% in Spanish?
Yes! From the very first day, your teacher speaks Spanish throughout the entire 90-minute class. We provide English translation slides for new vocabulary and concepts, so you're never lost. By Spanish 2, students adapt quickly because they're already familiar with this "controlled immersion" approach from Spanish 1. Your brain continues acquiring Spanish naturally while understanding everything!
Do I need Spanish 1 to take Spanish 2?
You should have completed Spanish 1 or equivalent (ACTFL Novice-Mid level, approximately 1-2 years of Spanish). Not sure? Take our free placement test or call us to discuss your background. If you studied elsewhere, our TPRS immersion approach may feel different, but students from traditional programs transition well!
What does "Christ-centered" actually mean in Spanish 2 classes?
It means Jesus is at the heart of everything we do, not an add-on. Every class opens with prayer and worship in Spanish. We memorize Scripture verses. The Bible is our primary text. We discuss what God is doing in our lives. Vocabulary focuses on faith, testimony, apologetics, and gospel-sharing. Our teachers disciple students, not just instruct. And students have opportunities to lead and serve on Mexico mission trips.
What materials do I need to buy?
Nothing extra! Your $199 deposit covers ALL curriculum for the entire year. You'll receive access to our online platform, all required materials, the Bible in Spanish, and the FREE Education Perfect platform. No hidden fees for textbooks or workbooks. Everything is included.
Extra Resources:
A multitude of reading, writing, listening, and speaking resources are available on the Living Waters Spanish website for all students.
Can adults really take Spanish 2?
Absolutely! We welcome students ages 12 to adult. Many parents enroll alongside their teens, and we have adult-only students preparing for missions or ministry. Spanish 2 is perfect for adults who completed Spanish 1 or have 1-2 years of prior study. Age doesn't matter - if you want to serve God in Spanish, you belong here.
What is ACTFL and why does it matter?
ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) provides standardized proficiency guidelines used by schools, colleges, and employers nationwide. Spanish 2 targets "Novice-High" level, meaning you can handle conversations on familiar topics, describe experiences, and give explanations. This measurable, recognized standard shows exactly what you'll be able to DO in Spanish.
What is TPRS and why is it better?
TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) is a comprehension-based method that mirrors how you learned English as a child - through stories, conversations, and meaningful context. Unlike grammar-first programs, TPRS gets you speaking from day one because you're learning language the way your brain is designed to acquire it. By Spanish 2, you're thinking in Spanish, not translating!
How much homework is there really?
Expect 3 hours per week structured across multiple days - NOT all at once! Here's the breakdown:

- Scripture memorization: ongoing (5-10 min daily) It's manageable for busy homeschool families and designed to fit around your schedule.
What if my student misses a class or falls behind?
We have a 4-week grace period for all makeup work. Students can complete missing assignments or quizzes within four weeks of the original due date. We understand life happens - illness, family emergencies, schedule conflicts. We build in flexibility because we want you to succeed, not stress!
How does the native speaker homework work?
Each week, students spend 15-30 minutes in conversation with a Spanish speaker. This could be someone at your church, a neighbor, a tutor you hire online (very affordable!), or connections we help you find. It's conversation practice - not formal tutoring. By Spanish 2, these conversations go deeper! Real conversation with real people is how fluency develops! We provide conversation prompts and topics.
Will this prepare my student for mission work?
Absolutely! Spanish 2 students have the vocabulary and fluency to communicate effectively, share detailed testimonies, lead worship, pray publicly, and serve in various ministry roles. Students who join our Mexico mission trips often serve as translators and leaders. You're not fully fluent yet, but you have powerful tools for ministry. Many mission organizations specifically recruit our students because they can actually SPEAK and LEAD, not just recite phrases!
Can my student earn college credit after Spanish 2?
After Spanish 2, you're well-prepared to take CLEP Spanish exams for college credit! Many students who complete Spanish 2-3 pass the CLEP and earn 6-9 college credits. We'll guide you on timing. Some students test after Spanish 2, others wait until Spanish 3 for even higher scores. Either way, you're on track to test out of college Spanish entirely!

Can parents really join classes for free?
Yes! This is one of our unique offerings. A parent or a grandparent can audit ALL classes at absolutely no additional cost. You can learn alongside your student, supervise instruction, or just enjoy learning Spanish. If you want your own homework account and high school credit, you can enroll as a paying student at regular tuition. Either way, you're welcome!
Is there a placement test?
Yes! If you've studied Spanish before (at another program, school, or country), take our free placement test to find your level. Spanish 2 is for students with 1-2 years of prior study (ACTFL Novice-Mid level). We want you in the right class for success!
- Education Perfect exercises: 30-45 minutes
- Native speaker conversation: 15-30 minutes
- Bible reading in Spanish: 30-45 minutes
- Writing practice: 30 minutes
- Scripture memorization: ongoing (5-10 min daily) It's manageable for busy homeschool families and designed to fit around your schedule.

What makes your teachers different from other programs?
Our teachers aren't college students or uncertified tutors. They're professional educators with 10-30+ years of teaching experience, advanced degrees in theology and education, ministry backgrounds in Mexico and Ecuador, and native Spanish speakers on staff. They've led mission trips, planted churches, run children's homes, and dedicated their lives to serving God through language education. They don't just teach Spanish - they disciple students.
