What Families Say
Parents and Students Love Spanish 1

Sr. Riegg has made learning a foreign language approachable and fun! The highlight has been seeing my child gain confidence speaking to native Spanish speakers. He’s done a wonderful job bringing Christ into his class as the motivation to speak Spanish for God’s glory.

Kristine J.
Spanish 1 parent

In one or two weeks in your class, she has learned more than in one year in these other programs. We talk about your class all the time, and my husband has even attended just to see what all the raves are about.

Suzy
Parent

Lately I’ve been hearing semi-conversations between my boys. This is more Spanish than I heard when my older boys did Rosetta Stone or when they took it at the local community college.

Carol
Mom of Spanish 1 students

I am so excited. I started reading in San Juan today in my Bible and I was able to read a verse because I knew Hijo, Dios, tu, el, rey!

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know
Yes! From the very first day, your teacher speaks Spanish throughout the entire 90-minute class. We provide English translation slides for new vocabulary and concepts, so you’re never lost. This “controlled immersion” means you understand everything while your brain naturally acquires Spanish. Parents are often amazed at how quickly students adapt and start thinking in Spanish.
No! Spanish 1 is designed for complete beginners. If you’ve never studied Spanish or only know “hola” and “gracias,” this is your starting point. We start from absolute zero and build systematically. If you have 1–2 years of prior study, take our free placement test — you might belong in Spanish 2.
It means Jesus is at the heart of everything we do, not an add-on. Every class opens with prayer and worship in Spanish. We memorize Scripture. The Bible is our primary text. We discuss what God is doing in our lives. Vocabulary focuses on faith, testimony, and gospel-sharing. Our teachers disciple students, not just instruct. Students use Spanish on mission trips to serve and share Jesus.
Nothing extra. Your $199 deposit covers ALL curriculum for the entire year — platform access, all required materials, the Bible in Spanish, and the Education Perfect platform bonus. No hidden fees for textbooks or workbooks. Everything is included.
About 3 hours per week, spread across multiple days — not all at once. Education Perfect exercises (30–45 min), native speaker conversation (15–30 min), Bible reading in Spanish (30–45 min), writing practice (30 min), and daily Scripture memorization (5–10 min). Manageable for busy homeschool families.
We have a 4-week grace period for all makeup work. Students can complete missing assignments or quizzes within four weeks of the original due date. Life happens — we build in flexibility because we want you to succeed, not stress.
Absolutely! We welcome students ages 12 to adult. Many parents enroll alongside their teens, and we have adult-only students preparing for missions or ministry. Age doesn’t matter — if you want to learn Spanish to serve God, you belong here.
Yes! A parent or grandparent can audit ALL classes at absolutely no additional cost. You can learn alongside your student, supervise instruction, or just enjoy learning Spanish. If you want your own homework account and high school credit, you can enroll as a paying student at regular tuition.
Yes! Spanish 1 students learn essential vocabulary for sharing the gospel, praying, worshiping, and serving. Students who join our Mexico mission trips use Spanish to communicate with nationals, share testimonies, and serve effectively. Many mission organizations specifically recruit our students because they can actually speak and serve.
Spanish 1 alone is usually not enough for CLEP/AP exams — those typically require 2–3 years of study. But Spanish 1 is the essential foundation. After Spanish 2 or 3, students are well-prepared to earn 6–12 college credits via CLEP. Many students complete Spanish 2–3 and test out of college Spanish entirely.
We offer a full refund of tuition (minus the $199 deposit) if you’re not satisfied. Just call 503-715-7227. We want you to be thrilled. If Living Waters Spanish isn’t the right fit, we’ll make it right. Risk-free enrollment.
Yes! If you’ve studied Spanish before, take our free placement test to find your level. Spanish 1 is for complete beginners, but if you have 1–2 years of prior study, you might belong in Spanish 2. We want you in the right class for success.
